Remember YouNeek Studio’s Partnership with Dark Horse?

Earlier this year, African publishing company, YouNeek Studios, entered into a groundbreaking partnership with renowned publishers Dark Horse. The deal saw Dark Horse acquiring the rights to publish a number of YouNeek Studios titles including E.X.O. The Legend of Wale WilliamsMalika, and Iyanu: Child of Wonder.

Now, Dark Horse has released a list of comics scheduled to be shipped in on July 2021 and on the list is YouNeek’s Studios Iyanu: Child of Wonder and Malika: Warrior Queen!

Malika and Iyanu Are On Sale This September!

Iyanu: Child of Wonder is a comic that follows the story of a young orphan who discovers she has unique abilities that rival those of the ancient gods, abilities that she has to use to save the world and that may bring back the age of wonder whilst Malika: Warrior Queen, is a graphic novel which follows the journey of military commander and queen who struggles to keep peace in her growing empire, Azzaz.

After the initial July shipment, YouNeek Studios two titles will be on sale in September 2021. So mark your calendars, fans!

The Creators of the First Ethiopian Superhero Comic Have a New Comic

From Etan Comics, the creators of the first Ethiopian superhero comic book Jember, comes a tale brand new tale, Hawi.

A historical fantasy set in present day Ethiopia, Hawi follows the story of 20 year old Ement Legesse. After a mysterious stranger kidnaps her mother on a trip back to Ethiopia Ement who must set out on a life-changing adventure filled with historical conflict, and save her mother.

Hawi Is Inspired by History

In 10th Century Ethiopia, there ruled a Queen named Yodit Gudit. Queen Yodit was known for her destruction of the Axumite Empire and nicknamed “Esato” (Amharic for Fire) for burning architectural landmarks and churches after her victories.

It is this historical queen who inspired Etan Comics new comic; a queen who has since remained a mystery and her motives unknown, that is, until Hawi.

Etan Comics have launched a Kickstarter campaign for this comic and backers have the chance to win 32 paged, colour comic of Issue #1 of Hawi as well as signed copies of both Hawi and Jember.

Marvel’s Marvelous Movie Franchise

If there is one movie franchise that has been successful, it’s the Marvel movie one. Since the release of Iron Man back in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going strong, birthing fan-favourite movies such as the Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: End Game, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 1.

After the Avengers: End Game was released, some would have thought that marked the end of the MCU, but it only marked a new beginning. Since then, Marvel has released the miniseries WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, both of which have been well received, and now Marvel has even more entertainment in the works.

Marvel’s Phase 4

Marvel has recently announced Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise with the release of a trailer, which includes a sneak peek at the upcoming movie, Eternals, starring Angelina Jolie.

On the movie line up are Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals and Spider Man No Way Home, all of which will be coming out later this year. Up next are Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Marvels, Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 which will follow in 2022 and 2023.

So it looks like Marvel fans have their movie tickets booked.

League of Legends Legendary Trailers

One thing, Riot Games should be applauded for is their epic reveal trailers for the lore their new League of Legends champions and lore development. Cinematic and enthralling; their reveal trailers always leave fans of the MOBA game wanting more.

Now Riot Games will be using those skills to bring to life, not another champion, but a brand new animated series!

Look Out for Arcane

The creators of League of Legends will be bringing to the screens a new animated series titled, Arcane.

Set in the upper-class, utopian region of Piltover and dark underground of Zaun, the series will follow the origin stories of League of Legends two iconic champions and the power that tears them apart.
