Do you know Dark Horse?

Dark Horse is one of the world’s leading entertainment publishers. After being founded in 1986 by Mike Richardson, Dark House have gone on to publish legendary graphic novels, comics and art books such as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Halo, James Cameron’s Avatar, Minecraft and Super Mario and  work by leading creatives like Neil Gaiman, Margaret Atwood. Now it looks like Dark Horse is going to be adding Roye Okupe’s name to that list.

YouNeek Studios’ Epic Partner Up with Dark Horse

This 2021 Dark Horse entered into a partnership with Roye Okupe and his company YouNeek Studios. The partnership will see Dark Horse including YouNeek Studios’ self published titles as well as exclusive bonus material from Malika: Warrior Queen, Iyanu: Child of Wonder, and E.X.O: The Legend of Wale Williams,   in their publishing line.

In the words of Dark Horse Founder, Mike Richardson, YouNeek Studios are “unlike anything in American comics,” and they are “honoured” to be part of furthering the reach of African talent and stories.

Uhuru: Legend of the Windriders

In August of 2013, Comic Republic published an African adventure novel set in the future. It’s name? Uhuru: Legend of the Windriders.

Uhuru followed the story of a young man whose entire clan is killed by a pseudo-religious sect called the Black Couldron. After receiving powers the young man, now known as Exodus, becomes the leader of a band of heroes called the Windriders and together they set out to fight against the Black Couldron.

So far, only a single issue of Uhuru has been in publication. But Comic Republic has recently announced the arrival of a brand new issue.

Uhuru: Legend of the Windriders is back!

On the 10th of February, 2021 fans of Uhuru will be swept back into the world of Exodus and the Black Couldron, when Comic Republic release a second issue of Uhuru: Legend of the Windriders.

Back to Black Panther

In December of last year, Director, Ryan Coogler finally released news on the future of Black Panther. Whilst the role of T’challa would not be recast, fans could look forward to a sequel to the iconic film which is set to be released in 2022.

Since then, Coogler and his company Proximity Media have entered into a partnership that will bring exciting entertainment to Black Panther fans.

Get Ready to Watch Wakanda!

Ryan Coogler and The Walt Disney Co. have recently announced that they will be working together on a television drama set in Wakanda.

Not many details have been given as to what the series will be about. But many have speculated on whether it will delve deeper into the stories of some of Black Panther’s leading characters. Who knows? We’ll just have to wait and see.
