Say Hello to Halo

Since its release in 2001, the video game Halo has only got more and more successful. The game follows the life of Spartan 117 aka Master Chief and his AI Cortana as they set out to stop an interstellar war between humanity and a race of aliens called the Covenant.

Over the years the plot has evolved and more games have been released, multiple adaptations of the game have also been released from book, comics and anime to films. However, one adaptation in particular, a Halo film produced by Steven Spielberg, has taken almost seven years to come into being. But now, it looks like we just might see the film come to the screens.

Halo is going Live!

Recently actor Pablo Schreiber, who is set to play Master Chief in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Halo, posted a picture of himself in the Spartan helmet with the caption “Let’s finish this fight!”

After years of production and a shutdown due to COVID-19, it looks like filming for the Halo is back on track!

The live action series is set to release on Showtime in 2021. The cast will feature Bokeem Woodbine, (Spider-Man Homecoming), Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders), Bentley Kalu (Edge of Tomorrow) and Jen Taylor as Cortana.

Paul Louise –Julie’s Yohance

A few years ago, Yohance was released into the world and has since become a hit. The stunning graphic novel, created by Paul Louise-Julie and his company Midas Monkee, follows the story of a thief in search of a mysterious artefact who ends up stumbling upon a great interstellar war.

Yohance is unique in that it was a space opera set in a universe rich with African aesthetics and, in the words Paul Louise-Julie, one that makes “people of colour relevant”. The book was so successful that its creator decided to make it into a film.

Yohance the Movie

After the success of the graphic novel, Paul-Louise Julie set out to make Yohance into a film. After years of hard at work, it looks like Louise-Julie is finally going to make his dream a reality.

Just two months ago, Monkee Midas released a trailer for the film adaptation of the epic graphic novel!

However, the film has not been completed yet and more work needs to take place before viewers can see the finished product. Louise-Julie hopes to release the film sometime in 2021 or 2022.

So Yohance fans, looks like you’re going to have to wait a while. But in the meantime…
