CGL Season 1 is Starting Soon…

 Africa’s games and entertainment company, Zannoza Entertainment, has announced that the opening season of CGL is scheduled to begin on Friday, 3 September and continue until Saturday, 2 October 2021.

The gaming league is open for dedicated and casual gamers and will include tournaments in Call of Duty Mobile, FIFA 21, Mortal Kombat 11, Trivia Quiz and Design Home.

The Corporate Gaming League (CGL) is a gaming tournament aimed at corporate organizations. Participants of this tournament stand to win cup titles, trophies and bragging rights and will also have the opportunity to give back to their community. 

CGL is Also Giving Back

For CGL Season 1, Zannoza Entertainment has partnered up with Slum2School, a volunteer organization driven to provide education to children living in remote communities and slums across Africa. So, a portion of the registration will be donated and used to provide school children with scholarships.

The registration fee is N50 000 (Fifty Thousand Naira) per team per game and registration is open until 27, August 2021.

Do You Know About the African Game Developers Fund?

In connection with Games Industry Africa (GIA) and The Indie Houses, the African Game Developers Fund (AGDP) is a non recoupable fund meant to provide game creators with the opportunity to realise their dreams.

Between $5k -$10K, the fund is open to any African-based studio developing a game for mobile, consoles or PC.

To aid them in developing a MVP (Minimum viable Product) or Vertical slice, applicants will be paid in instalments based on planned milestones and deliverables.

As part of the fund, Games Industry Africa will also provide visibility whilst The Indie Houses will provide mentoring, pitch and prototype feedback.

Applications open at the end of August, 2021.

NEWS BEYOND AFRICA – Animation/Movies

Disney’s Got A New Studio!

President, Clark Spencer has announced that Walt Disney Animation Studio (WDS) will be opening up a new studio!

Based in Vancouver, BC, the studio will focus on series and special projects for Disney + and first up on the list is the highly anticipated musical series, Moana.

Animation veteran, Amir Nasrabadi who has served key roles in companies such as, Pixar Canada, WildBrain Studios, Illumination and Paramount Animation, will serve as the studio’s Head.

Walt Disney Animation Studio, Vancouver is scheduled for an official opening in January 2022.
