VX Animation’s Black Rain
Nigerian company VX Animation are currently working on a brand new project called Black Rain.
A 2D animation, Black Rain is an an Afro-futuristic, animated short film that is inspired by the true events that took place in the Niger Delta where the IJAW were affected by an environmental disaster caused by a company’s oil spill.
On the planet of Esan, a young boy named Boubini is displaced from his homeland by the BELL Conglomerate. In the aftermath of his loss, Boubini seeks revenge and a way to rebuild his tribe, culture and way of life.
The project is currently running on Kickstarter.

The First African Mecha Comic Is Out Now!
Comic Republic have released Assegai #1, dubbed as the first ever African mecha-comic.
In the city of Aseba, citizens live in under constant threat of invasion. In this world, young Nzechi must navigate her own life and abide by the rules to survive. But she longs to stand out and her desire may cost her life.

Renowned Japanese Animator Makoto Shinkai Directs New Film
Renowned Japanese animator, director and writer, Makoto Shinkai has graced the world with a brand new feature, titled Suzume no Tojimari , working title Suzume’s Locking Up.
The highly anticipated animated film, follows the story of a young woman who opens a mysterious door that unleashes destruction across Japan. To stop the disaster from spreading, she must go on a journey to close all the doors.

Peter Ramsey Set to Direct Ahsoka Series
It has been confirmed that award-winning director, Peter Ramsey will be serving as a director on the upcoming Disney Plus series, Ashoka.
Ashoka is a live action series that will follow the story of Star Wars character Ashoka, a Jedi Padawan to Anakin Skywalker. The series is still in production and is said to premiere on Disney Plus in 2023.
Ramsey has worked on animated films such as Rise of the Guardians and renowned for his work on the Oscar-winning animated film, Spider-man Into the Spider-Verse. He is currently working on the highly anticipated sequel Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse.
